Crackers United review
July 14, 2005
Never heard of this sight before, but can’t complain about a good review…
“The Meeting Places debut album Find Yourself Along The Way is just what we needed here at CU. Among the hype over M.I.A.’s Arular and Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm it’s nice to find a band who slipped under the radar that people aren’t obsessing over. Plus, our music editor is slightly obsessed with bands from the early 90s British shoegaze scene and has been listening to them nonstop for months. We promise that this will be the last shoegaze/noise-pop/dream-pop band we cover for quite a while. Anyone with admiration for this type of music/genre will most definitely enjoy Find Yourself Along The Way. Although the album is far from groundbreaking, the LA-based band (yes LA again!) manages to create ethereal melodies that are aggressive, stirring, moving, calm, and relaxing at the same time, akin to Slowdive’s Souvlaki. The Meeting Places recently played SXSW at the Soho Lounge and are currently seeking management/promotion/booking if anyone is interested.”
